Updated! November 14, 2008

It has been a while since I've updated here, although I have several new things in the store now. I will tell about them soon, but for now I want you to know that we have Poinsettia floral hankies available for the holidays!

Updated! April 11, 2008

Just a note to remind all that the Cat Naming Contest ended February 29! No need to send more name suggestions - the winning name was Montezuma, and he is doing well.

The company that manufactures my veil fabric has discontinued it! I have plenty of most colors here, but will be switching to a new fabric as my old stock runs out. As I get closer to the switch, I will be making announcements of the veil product pages. For now, I am trying some new fabrics and hope to settle on one soon.

Updated! March 31, 2008

New Straw Brimmed Bonnet Colors!

We also now have No-Sew Snaps and Snaps Setters for those of you who want to have a permanent closure for your veils.

Updated! February 26, 2008

New patterns added!

We once again have cloth snood patterns, and also now have a veil pattern pack by The King's Daughters, and two covering patterns by Modest Handmaidens. Not only covering patterns, remember we have apron sewing patterns as well.

Also, 5 new prints are available for our Pretty Prints Prairie Bonnets.

A new veil...

The Gathered Long Veil is a long, full, ample veil. A Plain-n-Simple design.

Also, a couple new items: Hat Pins and Shawl Pins!

Name the Cat Contest update...
Still receiving names! Feel free to submit as many names as you'd like. So far we have 35 entries to chose from.

A couple new things on the site...

I added my own bun to the How to Make a Bun page!

A new article added to our Reading Room is How to Become a Christian by Ken Collins.

Name the Cat Contest update...
We're getting lots of good cat name ideas for our contest - as of today, we've received 27 entries! A few of which Zeke likes pretty well

See our NEW BOOK - Glories Seen & Unseen - A Study of the Head Covering by Warren Henderson.

Updated! January 9, 2008

To celebrate our upcoming first anniversary, we are having a Name the Cat Contest. Entries will be received through February 28 and the winning name will be announced March 1. If we like your name for our nameless cat, you will win an Apron Pattern of your choice (our apron patterns are by Calico Cat) and a $10 gift certificate to Plain-n-Simple. We have received 5 good entries already!

A few new things in store for the new year...

I have lowered my shipping charge for orders under $14.

Also, we have a few new colors...
our lace Chapel Veil is available in PINK and we have LIGHT BLUE Woolly Bandannas in stock.

The Working Veils are being closed out, so get them at a great discount. They will be replaced by a large modified triangular scarf, the Babushka.

We also now carry economical Opaque Black Knee-Hi in addition to our over-the-knee seamed stockings.

Updated! September 25, 2007

Introducing a new Plain-n-Simple covering... The Bonnet Style Cap. A customer sent me a small bonnet that she uses as a covering so I could make more for her. Playing around with it, I came up with a pattern for a bonnet style prayer cap that I think many ladies will enjoy wearing. The Bonnet Style Cap is an easy to wear, easy to care for full and opaque covering.

Updated! September 7, 2007

I made some finds while in the city yesterday... the same fabric we make our Silky Bandannas from, but in Navy; and black soft mesh for some of our Traditional caps-- the Full, Mini, and Oma's.

Updated! September 1, 2007
Another quick update about new things! Check out our new Customer Gallery. The old one was reeeally old and I found I could not even edit it and add new pictures - my wonderful web host lady, Michelle at Elemental Muse, set up a completely new one for me and I got all the pics uploaded and descriptions written yesterday. Feel free to send in a picture of yourself in one of our coverings!

The other thing is a new covering! It is listed under Traditional Coverings and is called the Choir Cap. A small foldable "pilgrim" looking devotional prayer cap.

Updated! August 30, 2007

We have expanded our line of hankies to now include ones with embroidered designs. We have many lovely 100% cotton hankies for giving as gifts, adding to your own collection, or for making handkerchief dolls or quilts. We also now have PET hankies in addition to our farm animal hankies for children. I love hankies... can you tell?

Also, we now carry a favorite of home makers... Sunflower brand knitted dish cloths.

Updated! April 30, 2007

I have created a pattern for the Simple Veil style that will fit children. My Rosemary does not like a lined brim on her veil, so this is my solution.

Also, we now have the Heart Shaped covering for 18 inch dolls.

See our new Covering Care page for tips on how to wash and store your coverings.

Updated! April 19, 2007

New in Odds & Ends are treadle sewing machine belts and our new "Gumdrop Bags". Also see The Little Girls' Room for out cute Convertible Apron-Bonnets, and our Aprons & More category for new fabrics for our Pioneer Aprons.

I hope to be offering aprons for big and little girls in the near future as well.

Updated! March 29, 2007

Everything is now in stock and ready. We have Friend's Patterns covering patterns in stock now too, and now carry apron patterns as well. The straw sun bonnets and straw cap bonnets have been going as soon as they get here, so if they show "out of stock" please know we are getting more any day.

God bless you and thank you for your support!

STILL WAITING ON THE STRAW SUN BONNETS AND CAP BONNETS!

Otherwise, we are getting things well stocked. We now offer the cloth snood in navy. Also, on most pages in the catalog area, you can find a link that will open a pop-up page that gives descriptions of the various fabrics we use, especially for our Traditional coverings.

In Odds & Ends, we now have the book "Let Her Be Veiled".

God bless you and thank you for your support!

Updated! February 19, 2007

With the new ownership comes some changes, naturally. I have updated some things on the website, added articles, updated our links page, and when we re-open, we will be carrying a few new items.

Check out our new Odds & Ends category for covering and Christian living related items such as teaching CDs, as well as gifts and other, well, odds and ends!

We also have another new category, Bandanas. Here you will find a new covering style, the Silky Bandana, and also wooly bandanas for cool weather outer wear. This summer we will be adding hunter "blaze" orange bandanas. At first glance that may seem odd, but for safety in rural hunting areas I highly recommend it. A white veil on a head bouncing through the woods looks a lot like a whitetail deer's "flag" -- my girls and I do not go for a walk on our farm October through January without blaze orange on our heads!

To our Accessories, we have also added small safety pins for use as closures at the nape of veils, more sizes of white bobby pins, and the hard-to-find, heavy duty, extra strong hair nets in several colors.

Thank you for your continued support as we carry on with this ministry to women who cover.

Updated! January 10, 2006

We have added coverings for reenacting, plays, and other events.

Updated! March 9, 2004

The new coverings at this time are: the Lace Veil, the Reversible Veil, Cloth Snoods, and the Daisy Covering.

If you are just now checking in after a long absence, you will notice we have added three new coverings. In the Veils category we have added the Simple Veil. In our Traditional Pleated styles we have added the Oma and the Oval coverings.

Another great feature we have added is a message board for our customers to get together and discuss being covered in today’s society. This group is open to ladies who cover now or think they may cover in the future. If you are interested in becoming a member go to: www.prayercoverings3@yahoogroups.com
