Fabric Descriptions
VEILS -
We make most of our veils from a very nice 100% polyester soft knit crepe fabric. This fabric is lightweight, but with enough body that it hangs nicely and it does not tend to stick out at the sides. Our veils come in seven colors ~ White, Black, Cream, Navy Blue, Wedgwood Blue, Brown, and Sand. Our navy is a very nice dark navy. The Wedgwood blue is a medium dark steel blue. Our Brown is a cocoa brown and the Sand has a chevron pattern with a bit of shine in the weave.
DURACRISP - a slightly stiffened cotton that looks and feels like cotton organdy but holds up much better and doesn't crumple. Comes in Black or White and is nearly opaque. We are using this to replace cotton organdy. Duracrisp will crisp back up after hand washing or after ironing - no need to re-starch. STIFF WHITE MESH - a very stiff white mesh, not too sheer. SOFT MESH - a net like mesh, still somewhat stiff, but not as much as regular mesh. It is see-through and lightweight. Comes in black or white. OPAQUE - completely opaque and very stiff. We use two methods, depending on availability: 1) we apply a heavy interfacing to the inside of our duracrisp; 2) we use a covering cloth which is a fine mesh with heavy interfacing applied. SWISS NINON ORGANDY - a beautiful and shimmery woven thin organdy. White only. ITALIAN ORGANDY - a beautiful and sheer woven organdy. White and black. VINTAGE LINEN - a lovely sheer 100% linen. Black & Navy are soft, and White is a bit more coarse. BLACK STIPLIN - a very stiff opaque mesh-like black fabric. It is woven and some sort of stiff finish is applied - this is the closest we can find to a black stiff mesh. POLY/COTTON BLEND - a durable but soft & lightweight broadcloth that wears well. POPLIN - a midweight poly/cotton blend. MUSLIN - a soft opaque cotton fabric. Comes in Natural (beige with natural brown cotton flecks) or Bleached (white). PRINTS - All of the prints we use whether on coverings, bonnets, or Gumdrop bags are 100% cotton quilters' fabrics. |
