July 14, 2010 I have a lot of odds and ends piling up here, custom orders that were not bought, small sized caps, sewing mistakes, etc., that I will be listing later today! Gonna be some good deals, so look for them in the Clearance Specials section! July 2, 2010 JULY time frame: Turn around time for most orders consisting of SEWN items is presently about two weeks from receipt of payment. The last few orders out standing from before June 15th will be shipped Monday, July 5th. Thank you for your patience during our "technical difficulties" June 18, 2010 UPDATE: Ordering has been disabled for now, until I can catch up! Projected re-open date is Thurs, June 24. June 14, 2010 As of Mon, June 14, computer is in the shop! I will therefor not be available to respond to inquiries or orders for a few days! Thank you for your patience. April 14, 2010 We are back sewing on a limited basis, so some veils have been re-listed. Still VERY busy here, so turn around time for sewn orders will be up to four weeks or more. March 9, 2010 WE WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY, MARCH 15 THROUGH MONDAY, APRIL 12!
Time for inventory, spring cleaning, and family sewing! Non-sewn items (hair pins, treadle belts, some bonnets, etc.) may be ordered and will be shipped during this time.
I hope to have all out standing February orders shipped by March 19th.

I am back to work after my Christmas break. And both Rose and I are fully recovered from our December surgeries, thank the Lord!
Orders that were made during my break (12/19 - 1/2) should be ready to ship this Wednesday, January 6th.
NEXT CLOSING TIME will be later this month for inventory, accounting, and taxes!

I am finally recovering enough to get back to work a little. Hopefully all outstanding November orders will be ready to go on Tue, Dec 8.
I have set the cart back up, so orders may be placed again for now.
Remember, we will be closed for the CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY from Sat, Dec 19 to Sat, Jan 2.

October 2, 2009 Hello friends! I am back from my September sabbatical with a new business model. I plan to sew ahead as much as possible, and not list most items unless they are already sewn and ready to go.
This will hopefully take some pressure off my busy schedule and life, as well as help you get your coverings more quickly. Some of the less popular items will still be sewn as ordered, but that will be clearly indicated on their order pages.
So for now, you will still see that most veils are "out of stock" as I have not been able to get much sewing done ahead. Many of our Traditionals are in stock and ready, and I hope to have many of the veils come online over the next week.
Thank you for your patience during this switch! September 3, 2009 Hello friends! I am starting my September sabbatical a little late. As of Sept. 3, only non-sewn (by me) items will be available for ordering.
I am still working on back orders! Life has gotten a bit hectic recently and has precluded my spending a lot of time at the sewing machine.
Fear not, all outstanding orders will be finished as I am able and shipped in the next few weeks.
I am considering some changes to Plain-n-Simple. Something to pray and think about, and work out over this coming month. Life has taken a turn here, and I am finding it difficult to "do it all" anymore. Something must change, and it will be changes to the business more than likely.

August 23, 2009 I got my daughter seen off to college okay, but did not get as many out-standing orders finished as I had hoped. So if you are wondering about your order, please rest assured I have not forgotten about it, but am back at work to get it done.
I will be taking my usual time off in September, but non-sewn items will be available to order during that time, as well as a few items I have already sewn ahead. And ALL out-standing orders will be finished and mailed as well :~) August 10, 2009 Ladies -- I need to take some time off to help get my daughter ready for college, so I am shutting down P&S for a couple weeks, until Sat. Aug. 22. You may still browse the site, but ordering options will be disabled. Thank you, God bless you, and see you in a couple weeks!
Most outstanding orders will be finished up and shipped during this time. July 3, 2009 Thank you for your patience and prayers during my recent illness and shutting down of P&S. I will be sewing for most of July, taking a week off towards the end of the month to sew clothing for my oldest daughter. She will be leaving for college mid-August and needs some new things. She is my first to leave the nest! I hope I do okay :~) At least she will only be 90 miles away and I can go see her fairly easily. June 10, 2009 I am thankfully on the mend. Thank you for your patience and prayers. I hope to re-open and enable ordering for at least non-sewn items in the next few days, by Friday, June 12 at the latest. Outstanding orders from May will be finished up and shipped as soon as possible. May 30, 2009 Due to sudden health problems, we are shutting down until further notice. Outstanding orders will be finished as I am able. Hopefully all orders will be shipped within a few weeks and we can reopen by mid-June. Your prayers are appreciated. 2/24/09

I will be traveling as a chaperon for some of our youth who will be attending a week long Bible school.

I must admit I am getting a bit overwhelmed. In my one and a half years running Plain & Simple, it has grown. I have added things, revamped the website, etc., and the response has been enormous. I am doing easily 3 to 4 times the business Alicia did, and she had hired out her sewing by then. I do 90% of the sewing myself and at this rate of growth, I am finding it difficult to keep up. So, it is time to re-think and re-group. My present thoughts are to extend my order turn around time to 4 to 6 weeks rather than 3, and also take off time in month blocks. Even though I have been taking breaks, they have not been much of a break since I spend them catching up on orders. Also, things come up in a busy country family of eight, and I am first a mom and keeper at home, second a seamstress and webshop owner. Sometimes my self inflicted pressure to get orders out keeps me from some of my home duties. That has got to stop for sure.
THANK YOU for your patience and your business. I am not sorry I own Plain and Simple, and I truly enjoy sewing for you. But I must figure out a way to scale back. Your input and prayers are appreciated.
