You will need a small hair clip, 2 large hair clips, and a hair net. You
may want to bend one of the large hair clips so that it will open wider
to hold more hair.
Gather a small section of top and side hair and fasten towards the back of the top of the head with the small clip.
Take one large clip
(the wider one if you bent one of the clips) and fasten it around all
of the hair like a ponytail -- make sure that the clip is upside down. (For very thick hair, a hair band instead of a clip may be used for this step.)

Begin winding
your hair around your left hand. Once it is nearly all wound, pull your
hand out. The top of the smooth bun or oval of hair should just
cover the top small clip.
Carefully cover the bun with the hairnet. If you have a large hairnet, you may want to double it.
Weave the other large
clip through both the bun and your hair, in and out, catching a bit of
the bun and then a bit of the hair above the small clip alternating.
Fasten the clip. The
small clip hidden beneath the bun and below the large clip serves as
an anchor for the weight of the hair to keep the large clip and bun
from sliding down your head. You can add hairpins if you feel you need
to.
Finished bun and
covering. You may need to experiment with the placement of your clips
and bun for awhile before getting a good fit. The covering
fit will vary depending on how the bun is placed. Make a high bun
with the clips placed higher on the head for the covering pictured. For
a veil, put the clips and bun lower.
Trying a new bun can feel awkward and clumsy at first, but it will become fast, easy, and efficient with practice.
