The french twist is a very good bun for layered hair or hair that is in the process of growing out.
Brush your hair, then pull it into a low ponytail toward the left side of your head. (Right side if you are a lefty.)

Now start to twist the hair.

Use hair pins to secure the twist. Remember to catch hair away from the bun then turn the pin and slide it into the bun.

Once you have your twist secure, you should have a tail left over.
Depending on how long your hair is will determine how much of a tail
you have left over. You will now tuck the tail down and back into the
twist. You will need to remove pins and secure them again over the
tucked in hair.
